Why Jumping Doesn't Always Land You Where You Wanted
A professional reaches a breaking point (burned out, bored, or simply done) and makes a move. They take the first opportunity that looks different from what they have. They leap toward something without fully understanding why they're leaving or what they actually want to find on the other side.
And then, six months or a year later, they find themselves in a new role or a new industry and the same feeling follows them there.
That's not a pivot problem, it’s really a clarity problem.
Career pivots also fail when they're built on assumptions rather than evidence like assuming a passion will translate into a sustainable career, or the industry will feel fundamentally different, and assuming that more money or a better title will solve what is actually a values misalignment.
A successful pivot requires more than a decision. It requires honest self-examination, real information about the path ahead, and a process for testing assumptions before committing to them. Without that foundation, even the boldest pivot can land you right back where you started.
